B & W Custom Concrete Contractors Share Their Ideas
Does your home need more curb appeal? For those of us living in winter climates, the harsh weather takes a toll on outdoor surfaces, especially those that are high-traffic areas. Snow, ice, shoveling - all these menaces crack, chip and loosen concrete. Here are some helpful tips to spruce up your outdoor walkway and front yard landscaping.
Create a Well-Defined Path
There’s nothing more eye-appealing than a nicely manicured landscape to add curb appeal to your home. One way to do this is by having a clear pathway.
To do this, keep grass and plants trimmed neatly, leaving a border between the edge of the path and the grass. This will give it a clean look as well as definition. Think about adding landscaping lights. By adding outdoor solar lights along the pathway, it’ll make your home feel very inviting.
Replace the Walkway
Having a crumbled entrance walkway is both unsafe and unattractive; yet, it’s one of the first things a guest will encounter. If you plan on putting your home up for sale, this can be a real negative first impression, making the potential buyer do an about-face.
To ensure that this doesn’t happen, here is a great walkway idea we’d like to share. Replace the walkway with a customized interlock design. We will guide you in creating a flagstone design that enhances the beauty of your home.
If flagstone is not for you, the landscape designers at B & W Custom Concrete will work with you to figure out exactly what suits you. We have a wide variety of options to choose from.
Add Vibrant Plants
By adding a few garden beds in various sizes and vibrant colors along the walkway, it’ll add color and appeal. In the spring, plant bright, vivid-colored flowers. Remember to always keep the plants manicured.
Add a Tiered Design
If you need a replacement walkway, a less expensive option is brick pavers or stepping stones. Plain pavers can be rather plain and simple, so we suggest purchasing a vinyl doily to use as a stencil and spray with exterior spray paint.
A more elaborate touch would be a tiered flagstone design - either wide tiered steps or a beautiful tiered garden along your walkway.
Match both Driveway and Patio
If your driveway is in drastic need of repair, you may consider doing the same design on the walkway and driveway for a cohesive look to your entrance. Depending on your climate, you can choose from pea gravel, a brick walkway, poured concrete, stone walkway or even flagstone which is durable and provides great traction for both cars and foot traffic. Whatever your choice, B & W can do it.
Add Mulch or Stone for a Fresh Look
Mulch is widely used and adds to the manicured look of your walkway. There are a variety of mulches and stones to choose from. Whatever you choose will provide a fresh, clean look with defined lines.
No matter the style of your home, having a beautifully painted front door, an inviting front porch, and a well-manicured front entry walkway, will make your guests feel welcome and give you pride in your home exterior.
